Capcom has officially unveiled the long-awaited remake of Resident Evil – Code: Veronica today, now titled Resident Evil Veronica.
The announcement trailer, revealed during Summer Game Fest, opens with a brand-new sequence set in Paris, France, where Claire Redfield infiltrates an Umbrella facility in search of her brother, Chris. This marks a fresh introduction before the story moves to the classic locations of the original game.
Originally released in 2000, Code: Veronica follows Claire Redfield and her brother Chris Redfield as protagonists. The story begins on Rockfort Island and later continues in Antarctica (not Alaska, as sometimes misremembered).
The remake promises modernized gameplay, stunning RE Engine visuals, and a faithful yet reimagined retelling of the fan-favorite classic. It is currently scheduled for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Fans have been eagerly waiting for this title for years, and the first trailer has already generated huge excitement with its atmospheric tension and updated take on Claire.
More gameplay footage and details are expected soon. Stay tuned!
