A listing for what appears to be a new, unannounced Nintendo game has surfaced — and just as quickly disappeared — from Brazil’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security classification system.
The listing referenced a title called Metroid Ravenous, giving it a 12+ age rating for violence and light sexual content, and listing 2026 as its year of production. The country of origin was recorded as the United States, suggesting Nintendo of America submitted the game for rating. The page has since been taken down, but not before it was noticed and circulated online.
Nintendo has not confirmed the existence of the game. As with all ratings-board leaks, the information should be treated as a rumor until the company makes an official statement.

What Could This Game Be?
The title breaks from the “Prime” naming convention used in Metroid’s recent 3D entries, leading many fans to speculate this is a new 2D installment — a direct follow-up to 2021’s Metroid Dread, which was both a critical and commercial success and the best-selling game in the franchise’s history. If that’s the case, MercurySteam would be a natural candidate to develop it, having worked with Nintendo on both Dread and Metroid: Samus Returns.
“Ravenous” is an English adjective meaning extremely hungry, or having an intense, insatiable craving. In this context, fans have pointed to a possible connection with Dread‘s final antagonist, Raven Beak, whose name overlaps with the word “Ravenous” — sparking theories that he could return as a central figure in the new game, possibly having absorbed more of Samus’s power after their confrontation.
Nintendo typically unveils new details about its upcoming lineup during its annual September Direct presentation, and the company is also set to appear at Gamescom in August — either event could bring an official confirmation, if the leak proves accurate.
