A secret NASA audio recording from a meeting held in the aftermath of the Apollo 16 mission has surfaced as part of the third batch of UFO and UAP files released by the Pentagon. The recording captures NASA officials in what appears to be a candid internal discussion about anomalous observations made during the mission — including references to what participants described as a possible “alien base” on the lunar surface. The existence of the meeting was not previously acknowledged publicly, and the audio had remained classified for decades.
Apollo 16, which landed on the Moon in April 1972, was the fifth crewed lunar landing in history. While the official mission logs focus on geological surveys and sample collection, the newly released audio suggests that at least some NASA personnel were privately grappling with observations that fell outside the scope of the official record. The specifics of what was observed — and how seriously the “alien base” discussion was taken — are still being analyzed by researchers and journalists going through the newly released files.
The release has reignited long-standing questions about what NASA and other government agencies may have known about unexplained phenomena during the Space Race era and whether the full record of those missions has ever been made public.
